Half a block north from Lakeshore Rd., between Brant st. and Maple Ave. you’ll find 433 Brock Ave. in Burlington, ON – the western edge of the Greater Toronto Area! It was once an outdated ice cream shop, but will soon become the new home of House & Canvas – Canada.
Built in the 70’s, this property was once a single family home, close to the beach, downtown shops and restaurants. It has since been converted to a triplex, housing an apartment and two retail spaces that are now considered part of Burlington’s beautiful downtown. Shear Creations, a gorgeous, modern salon & spa is on the right, and House & Canvas will make it’s home on the left.
Now, let’s get to the fun stuff!! DESIGN…. This place is obviously dated, Blue and yellow siding, with a brown porch and a RED roof… gahh, how do you make a red roof work?!?!? There is no way I am changing that red roof, so I’ve got to work around it and make it work!!
Here’s the plan for the front….
The side of the building is plenty visible -especially from Burlington Art Gallery. It needs some attention too… but seriously, WHO’S going on the super tall ladder to paint that yellow siding?!?! NOT ME 🙂
The Exterior Design Board:
Exterior siding will be painted in Behr Intellectual. A perfect deep grey with a brown undertone. The trim, along with the railings and porch will be Behr Crisp Linen… a can’t-go-wrong white. Gold light fixtures and house numbers have been ordered, and I’m currently sourcing decorative boxwood balls for my planters.
Design Boards In Different Color’s:
As I was sitting here creating my design boards, Ryan asks me “Hey Cait, what’s your favourite color….this week?”… I’m still laughing, because I just did a bazillion design boards…. what color am I actually going to paint the front door??? We will have to wait for some warmer weather and see what my favourite color that week is!!
